6 Easy Hacks To Supercharge Your Office Productivity
The average office employee in the UK works for around seven and a half hours a day. There’s only so much work you can cram into those daily 450 minutes, so you need to make the most of every second if you want to boost your office productivity.
We are now going to show you six easy hacks to supercharge your working day at the office...
Don’t skip your lunch break
Our first tip may sound a little counter-intuitive. Surely you’ll get more done each day if you eat your lunch at your desk while you carry on working or checking emails?
Well, actually, no...
Research suggests that people who take their full lunch break are actually much more productive around the office for the rest of the day. So go and get some fresh air while you eat some brain food. Trust us, you’ll come back much more focused and ready to tackle the rest of the day with purpose.
Take a break
And don’t just limit your down time to your lunch break. Take regular breaks throughout the day to stop you becoming unfocused in the office.
Some studies have shown that the most productive people in the office work for a period of 52 minutes and then take a 17 minute break. Rinse and repeat!
You can even use some of your office breaks to do a spot of exercise, which again will help to keep you really focused throughout the day.
Keep hydrated to improve concentration
Okay, you’ve had enough time out now! It’s time to start getting things done...
And to help you do that you’ll need to drink lots of water throughout your working day. Why?
Because science says so! Research shows that drinking lots of water can improve your office productivity by up to 14 per cent. So use some of those regular breaks to go and fill a glass of water.
Have a power hour where you really get the big things done
Now that you are all hydrated and completely focused it’s time to have a Power Hour where you get the really important things done.
Or, if you really focus, maybe you could get all of the crucial daily things done in one of your 52 minute sessions.
Remove all distractions and really concentrate in this one hour period to supercharge your office productivity in just one short session.
Aim for Inbox Zero
Too much time is wasted dealing with your emails, so make it your mission to get to ‘Inbox Zero.’
Google Inbox can help with useful features such as snooze, but you need to be more productive in dealing with your emails yourself too.
Don’t be afraid. Delete anything that’s unimportant. Unsubscribe from blogs and websites you no longer read.
Once you get to Inbox Zero level you should deal with every single new email as soon as it arrives. Reply, delete - or snooze it until a more convenient time.
Now you can spend all of that time that you used to waste sifting through irrelevant emails on something much more productive in the office.
Install a Chrome extension such as WasteNoTime
Keep track of how much time you spend on various websites and social media accounts throughout the working week using Chrome apps such as WasteNoTime.
You can then use the app to automatically lock you out of certain sites after a set number of minutes so that you can focus your efforts where they are really needed in the office.
Good luck improving your office productivity!
